We are aiming to compile a resource that shows, in given areas, what percentage of mesquite trees have pods that are:
- High quality for harvest (sweet, with no bad characteristics, with pods ripening pre-monsoon)
- Poor quality for harvest (having one or all of the following bad characteristics: bitter, drying, burning, and/or chalky flavor/aftertaste; and/or pods not ripening before monsoon rains)
If you’d like to help us crowd-source such a resource, and can tell the difference between a native velvet mesquite and non-native mesquites, use this form, Mesquite-pod tasting survey (by tree), as you harvest.
After, scan and email a copy of your completed form, or any questions or feedback you have, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
